Screen recorder for Mac

Skip the meeting. Send a Plum.

Free to start, on the Mac App Store. Pro’s first month is free. Videos live on your Mac and in your own Google Drive, never on our servers.

PlumCam library: recent videos with your camera in the corner, folders, Google Drive links, and the New recording button

Like Loom, minus the workspace.

PlumCam is a screen recorder for Mac that does the one thing you need: record your screen and yourself, then send it. No editing suite to learn. No workspace to set up. No team to invite.

Explaining things eats your afternoon.

You know how it goes.

“Can you hop on a quick call?”

Thirty minutes later, you’ve explained the same thing you could have shown in two.

A wall of text and six screenshots.

And they still reply asking which button you meant.

Your teammate is asleep.

You’re ready to explain now, they’re eight time zones away, and it waits until tomorrow.

Press record, show what you mean, send the link. They watch it when it suits them, and you get your afternoon back.

A screen recorder that gets out of your way.

Everything you need to explain a bug, walk a client through a design, or answer a question. Nothing you have to learn first.

Show it, don’t type it

Your screen and your face in a small circle, recorded together. Pick the whole screen or just one window.

Park your face anywhere

Drag the camera bubble into any corner, make it big or small, and move it mid-recording if it’s covering something.

Nobody needs to see the laundry

Background blur keeps you sharp and the room behind you soft. One switch, no green screen.

Share without the upload dance

Every video goes straight to your own Google Drive. Copy the link, paste it into Slack, an email or a ticket.

Find it again next month

Folders per client or project, drag and drop, and names you change with a click. No more “Screen Recording 2026-10-13 at 14.02”.

Three clicks, every time

Pick what to record, wait for the countdown, start talking. Stop from the menu bar, the camera bubble, or with ⌥R.

A quick look around.

New recording screen: a preview of the chosen screen with the camera bubble, screen and window choices, camera and microphone with a level, bubble size and background blur
Ready in seconds Pick a screen or a window, see exactly where your camera bubble will sit, check your microphone, then press Start.
The editor: the video split into parts on a timeline, the voice track, a song on the music track, captions, and the music settings
Fix it in the same window Cut out mistakes, set each part’s volume, remove noise and add music that dips while you talk. (Pro)
The editor with captions: a caption on the video, caption lines on the timeline, and caption style, position and size settings
Captions, written for you Transcribed on your Mac in many languages. Fix any word, pick a style, and add them to the video. (Pro)
Video player: a recording with the camera bubble, plus Edit and Copy link buttons
Watch, file, share Rename it, drop it in a folder, copy the Google Drive link. The person on the other end just clicks and watches.
The PlumCam library, light above the diagonal and dark below it
Light or dark, your call PlumCam follows your Mac’s appearance, or pick light or dark in Settings.

Fix it before you send it.

A simple editor in the same window: no export, no other app. Editing is part of Pro, and Pro’s first month is free.

Cut out the mistakes

Trim the start and end, split anywhere and delete the parts you don’t want. Undo any step; your original stays safe until you save.

Even out the sound

Turn each part up or down, or mute one, by dragging a line on the voice track.

Lose the background noise

Fans, hum and room noise gone in one click, while your voice stays natural.

Add music that steps aside

Songs from the built-in library or your own sounds, each with its own volume and fades. They get quieter whenever you talk.

Captions, written for you

Transcribed right on your Mac, in many languages. Fix any word, pick a style, and add them to the video or save an .srt file.

Make it look right

Brightness, contrast and saturation for a dim webcam or a washed-out screen. Then save, or save and upload to Drive in one go.

Made for anyone who explains things.

If you’ve ever said the same thing three times, a short video says it once.

Teachers and tutors

Record a lesson with your face beside the slides, or walk a student through their homework in three minutes instead of a long email. Captions included, for every learner.

Online course creators

Film each lesson in one take, cut the stumbles, add quiet music and captions, and export an .mp4 ready for your course platform. Up to 4K on Pro.

Product and engineering teams

Show the bug instead of describing it, demo the new feature to the team, or review a design without booking a meeting.

Customer support and success

Answer “how do I…?” with a two-minute video and a link. One recording answers the next ten customers too.

Freelancers and agencies

Walk clients through a design, a site or a report in your own voice. They watch when it suits them, and you skip the call.

Sales and recruiting

Send a short personal video instead of another cold email: your face, their website or profile on screen, one link.

How it works

1

Pick.

Click New plum, name it if you like, choose a screen or a window.

2

Talk.

Talk it through on camera while you show your screen. Stop when you’re done.

3

Paste.

It lands in your library and your Drive. Copy the link and paste it wherever you were about to type the explanation.

Your Drive, your files

Your videos stay yours.

Your recordings never touch our servers. They’re saved on your Mac and in your own Google Drive, under your account. PlumCam can see the files it put there and nothing else. A video stays private until you copy its share link, and whoever you send it to doesn’t need an account to watch.

Two plans, no sales call.

Questions

Which Macs does PlumCam run on?

Apple Silicon, so any Mac with an M1 chip or newer, on macOS 13 Ventura or later. Intel Macs aren’t supported.

Where are my videos saved?

On your Mac and in your own Google Drive. Nothing is stored on our servers.

Do I need Google Drive?

For share links, yes. PlumCam uploads to your Drive and the link it gives you is a Drive link. You can record and keep everything locally without connecting Drive, you just won’t have a link to send.

Is PlumCam a Loom alternative?

If you use Loom to record a quick walkthrough and send it, yes, and PlumCam costs less. If you use Loom for team workspaces, viewer analytics, comment threads and shared libraries, no. We deliberately don’t do those.

What happens when I reach my plan’s limit?

Recording stops on its own and your video is saved, right up to the last second. Nothing is lost. While you record, the menu bar shows your time against the limit and counts down the final 30 seconds, so it never catches you mid-sentence.

What if PlumCam isn’t for me?

Try Pro free for a month first, and cancel in your App Store settings before it ends if it’s not for you: you won’t be charged. If you change your mind after paying, ask Apple for a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. Your videos are on your Mac and in your own Drive, so you keep them either way.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes, in your App Store subscriptions (PlumCam › Settings › Plan › Manage subscription), in a couple of clicks. You keep PlumCam Basic for free, and your recordings stay on your Mac and in your Drive.
